you had to know it was coming

so here i am, at the end of what could very well be the longest day of my life. it seems like its been about a week since i was climbing over people to get a seat in my music 201 class this morning around 9:02 am. and now its 11:45, a little over 12 hours later, and i am so drained. physically, emotionally, mentally. now, i'm not here to whine and moan and complain about how much i miss cody (even though i do miss him, terribly). i won't subject you to that torture. i just want to say a few things.
1. i know that everyone and their left-footed dog says this, but mission prep with brother bott is quite possibly the best class you could ever take. i'm not planning on serving a mission, but the things he says are so deep and profound, i get shivers every single day. even after just four weeks of class, this class has already taught me so much and impacted me so deeply, i fully plan on just sitting in on it for at least another semester.
2. school is a really, really good distraction. it is hard to believe that i've been in classes for four weeks already. the days seem long while i'm actually in them, but looking back, time has really picked up since school has started. i just hope that the rest of the semester and next semester, and the next and the next, just blur right by. i am willing to completely submerge myself in schoolwork if thats what it takes.
3. i need a better job. don't get me wrong, i don't have a problem working at jamba. but when you only work 12 hours a week for about $7.25 an hour, that just isn't going to cut it. i need to start looking for a more solid job.
4. i have the best friends anyone could ask for. they've really proved that to me this past week. all of them. cody, caroline, ginger, marci, jaimie, kate the great, andrea, and even brady, who is serving a mission in california. really, they are the absolute best and i wish there was some way i could thank them for being there for me.
5. my family needs to move out west. i miss them. moreso than last year (not that i didn't miss them last year, because i definitely did). sometimes, i wish i could just go home for the weekend...like this coming weekend. i would love to just spend a few days at home. i don't want to wait until Christmas!
6. i'm one day closer to cody being back!

What we already knew...

is that Clay Aiken is gay. And it seems that he has finally come to terms with it as well. That's right folks, in People magazine, set to hit shelves today, Clay Aiken reveals that he is gay. Surprise. We all already knew this. He wasn't very good at hiding it, although fathering a child was a good way of throwing us off his trail for a good 2 seconds. And yes my life is fantastically boring since I am blogging about Clay Aiken being gay. Morgan, how are you handling the news? I remember you going to his concert and wearing that shirt the next day to school...

explain this to me

so, you know that phrase about how if winners never quit, and quitters never win, then who came up with quit while you're ahead? well, what about these two phrases that i've been contemplating recently.

its the calm before the storm.
things are going to get worse before they get better.

well, which one is it? does the good come before the bad? or the bad before the good? anyone?

rise and shout, the cougars are out

its that time again, folks. byu football season! i think that i kind of took it for granted last year because i only went to three of the six home games, but driving into provo a few weeks ago and seeing the stadium there with the mountains in the background just made me so glad that its football season again. and i do enjoy a good football game, but i kind of go more for the atmosphere. all of the fans are just so supercharged and excited. i don't know, its pretty awesome.

so the first game of the season was saturday against northern iowa. and after a crappy third quarter that had cody pouting on the bleachers for a couple minutes and ready to pull his hair out and us sweating our butts off as we baked in the sun, we won the game by a lot. it was fabulous. enjoy some pictures.

More Adventures in Sam's Club

Day 2
I am jealous of the cell phone people because they have internet. Dumb. I can see it, but can’t have it. So close yet so far away. There are also a bunch of computers to my right, but none of them have internet. Dumb times 2. And I think I convinced a lady to buy a mac. She will lead a better life because of it.
I used the bathroom at sam’s today and it was disgusting. I wonder if they ever clean that place. But this small fact of the bathroom being sick made me not so surprised when I was almost all the way back to my kiosk when I finally realized I had toilet paper stuck to my shoe. All I could do was laugh. Does that seriously happen? I thought that only happened in movies or tv shows or something. I want to see documented cases where this has actually happened in real life. And I want to know why it is so embarrassing. It is not my fault the bathroom floor is littered with toilet paper and goodness knows what to make it stick to my shoe. It grossed me out more than embarrassed me. This little incident, however, gave me hope and made me think that maybe my life is a comedy and not a tragedy. (Reference to Stranger Than Fiction for those of you who didn’t get that) And who doesn’t need some humor in their life? I sure do.

Also a favorite person I watched today. A lady, a normal customer, trying to pull a vacuum off of a high shelf… Uh don’t they have those in boxes on the floor for a reason…

Also a little girl probably about 9 years of age came up and felt the need to inform me that she had lost her mother. Okay great kid, I don’t work here. As I started walking around with her, trying desperately to find any one of the thousands of employees who had previously been swarming my kiosk, she started wandering from me. As she came back towards me I wondered aloud if that was how she had gotten lost. She said no and informed me that her mothers name was nursie… I stared at her, speechless. I couldn’t find an employee soon enough.

My Adventures in Sam's Club

Here I am standing at a little podium in Sam’s Club, bored out of my mind. I am working for one for my dad’s clients for the next couple days selling artwork. Woohoo. The pieces are absolutely stunning and I am trying to decide which one I want. But it is slow and people are not always very friendly. I don’t care if they buy something or not; I am simply trying to be helpful, so when I ask if you have any questions don’t give me attitude. Simply smile and return my warmth and kindness. Please.

Favorite customer:
‘Do you guys have the Mexico City temple?’
No
‘Why not, do you think it is only for whites?’
Pointing at a picture we have on display of Christ:
“Even Jesus is white, and he isn’t even really white, he’s jewish.”

The people that shop at Sam’s are classy. Another favorite customer was one who, when I told him the price of one of the piece he asked, “What’s the poor farmer discount?”
I could only stare.
